Three overarching trends define the current landscape: (1) continued global expansion of
sustainable finance regulation addressing jurisdictional demands and systemic economic and
environmental risks; (2) a shift toward implementation and operational effectiveness; and (3) the
consolidation of carbon pricing and transition finance as innovative policy tools. At the same time,
a more complex picture is emerging, with global convergence on core principles but increasing
divergence in regulatory design and ambition.

Overall, the latest developments suggest that sustainable finance policymaking is no longer
just expanding; even as regional regulatory differences shape its trajectory, it is entering a
new phase characterized by a greater emphasis on implementation, integration, and
economic alignment, as concerns over the economic materiality of sustainability risks deepen.
